Vietgone

Highlight reel from Vietgone, a play by Qui Nguyen that was produced by Capital Stage, Sacramento in 2019. The animation was projected onto six screens throughout the theater for the duration of the play. The play was produced again by City Lights Theater, San Jose in 2022 with the animation projected onto one large screen above the stage. Jeffrey Lo directed both productions.

Blackberry Winter

Highlight reel from Blackberry Winter, a play by Steve Yockey that was produced by Capital Stage in 2016. I created a 15 minute animation that was projected onto the back wall of the theater while two actors narrated the story.

Blackberry Winter is a play about one woman's struggle to deal with her mother's worsening dementia. As a coping mechanism, she invents a fable about a group of animals living in a forest that serves as an allegory for dementia and the transience of memory. That fable is told with the aid of the animation in three installments throughout the play.
